Natural Beauty: AND THE WINNER IS.......

.....US!....

Award winning Abbey St. Clare natural shampoos, treatments, and conditioners address specific needs for all hair types and colors.

LAZARUS HAIR RENEWAL SYSTEM for fine or thinning hair, or to add volume to all types of hair. Essential oil based Scalp Stimulation Treatment, shampoo, and leave in conditioner are so effective they are continual best sellers.

COFFEE AND CLOVES (shampoo/conditioner) warms and enriches darker and honey toned hair, covers fine gray hairs, and adds brilliant shine. In addition, clove oil is antiseptic, analgesic, and antiviral while instilling contentment, creativity, focus, and self-awareness. The increasing popularity of this formula is its best testimonial.

CHAMOMILE (shampoo/conditioner) adds highlights to lighter colored hair. The relaxing properties of chamomile essential oil relieve stress and promote restful sleep.

QUICKSILVER (shampoo/conditioner) brightens all light colored hair, removing dullness and brassiness from gray hair.

NETTLES (shampoo/conditioner) uses tea tree essential oil and nettles extract to clear scalp problems that cause flakiness, eczema, psoriasis, and chemically damaged hair.

"I have been using the Quicksilver shampoo and conditioner and must tell you that I cannot believe my gray hair could be so beautiful. I had no idea my hair was so dull. Not anymore."

"I'm just writing to congratulate you on the Coffee and Cloves shampoo and conditioner. You know, of course, that all your potions are magical, but I think this one is my favorite. Nights when I use the shampoo and conditioner, my hair is noticeably different. It wakes up shinier, stronger, thicker. It holds its curl better. ...it even seems darker."

Amazing Turmeric: The saga continues....

Turmeric is the herb that gives The Yellow Creme its color, and in our last newsletter we reported on its many health benefits, including skin care. Most recently, UCLA researchers report evidence that the compound curcumin, found in turmeric, appears to shrink the protein deposits that build up in the brains of people suffering from Alzheimer's. Human trials are now under way. Dose: A teaspoon of turmeric can be added to rice or vegetable dishes, or a soft gel can be ingested daily with a meal.

Anti-aging Quick Tip
Signs of aging show up first in your hands and your neck. Treat both of these areas with the same care that you give to your face.
  • Always extend your facial cleansing, toning, and treatments all the way to your chest. It will help prevent "turkey neck" and the consistent exfoliation will help even out uneven pigmentation that frequently develops in this area.
  • The development of age spots on the upper chest area is very common. Routine application of Lighten Up or Vitamin C products will diminish the appearance of these.
  • Aging hands are hard to camouflage. Exfoliate regularly with a scrub (Scruffing Milk Cleanser, Enzyme Exfoliating Scrub, or one of the scruffing soaps or soap in a Soap Sack). Healing Hands Intensive Hand Therapy contains a host of antioxidants and skin lightening Vitamin C to keep hands looking - and feeling--- younger. Use Lighten Up if the age spots in this area are particularly obvious.

Skin Care Cosmetics. Minerals as Concealer
Less is Younger ~~ Keep it Natural

Skin that is losing firmness needs less makeup, not more. Makeup tends to slide into and accentuate even tiny facial furrows. Mineral powders applied with a light hand reflect light and minimize wrinkles and sagging.

The good news is that mineral powders eliminate the need for separate concealers! The secret is using a Taklon brush. It holds an extra amount of powder and applies it exactly where you need it.

UNDER-EYE DISCOLORATION. Use the same color powder as you use for your face and a Taklon Camouflage Brush. Apply the powder underneath the eyes with short, light strokes. Use the fine edge of the brush to place powder directly underneath the lower lashes. Brush away extra powder. Use the kabuki brush to apply powder to the rest of your face, blending it in under your eyes. If the area is still shadowy, lightly add more powder with the Taklon brush. Because of the lightness of the powders, you should not get a caked on look.

VERY DRY SKIN. Mix a small amount of powder with your under-eye cream and smooth it on with a brush or your finger.

BLEMISHES, SHAVING NICKS. Use the Taklon Camouflage Brush to apply small amounts of powder to the specific area. Blend into the surrounding skin.

AGE SPOTS ON HANDS. Use the kabuki brush and a light amount of powder to hide the discolored spots. Blend into the surrounding skin.

SPIDER VEINS, BRUISES, LARGER AREAS OF DISCOLORATION. Use any appropriate sized brush to hide the targeted area while feathering the powder into the coloration of the surrounding skin. Kabuki or foundation brushes work well for this.

Wellness: Weight Control Tips You'll Love

GET SOME SLEEP. Columbia University (New York) scientists found that those who logged five hours or less of sleep were 50% more likely to be obese than those who routinely slept for seven to nine hours a night. Four hours a night sleepers were 73% (yes, 73%!) more likely to be seriously overweight, and six hours a night sleepers were 23% more likely to be overweight.

EAT AN EARLY BREAKFAST. UK scientists found that women who ate breakfast around 7:30 a.m. consumed fewer calories per day than when they ate their first meal mid-morning (around 10:30 a.m.). Early breakfast translated into a loss of one pound per month. Doesn't sound like much? That's a painless 12 pounds a year!

EXERCISE BEFORE EATING. Reduce the effects of that triple banana split by exercising BEFORE, rather than after, indulging yourself. University of Glasgow researchers report that people who walked for 90 minutes before a food binge, experienced 25% lower blood fat levels compared to subjects who did not exercise, or exercised after eating.

DRINK GREEN TEA. Three cups of green tea per day burned almost 2000 more calories per week. That's almost 3 pounds per month, 36 pounds a year that you don't gain! Now there are a host of health benefits derived from drinking green tea and this is a great incentive to make green tea an integral part of your day. (Look for the Abbey to soon offer a weight loss tea.)

EAT DAIRY PRODUCTS. Yoplait Yogurt studies show that consuming its yogurt helps consumers burn 20% more fat than just cutting calories. While Yoplait has some delicious flavors, the key is not Yoplait per se, but the calcium. A University of Tennessee professor of nutrition and medicine found that when combined with calorie control, a dairy-rich diet can nearly double body-fat reduction and weight loss and help prevent weight gain. Three servings of low or nonfat dairy a day is the government's latest dietary recommendation. Good advice. A cup of milk or yogurt, or 1.5 oz of cheese equals one serving.
