Hello Friends!

I know, I know.... It has been awhile. Once you visit the newly revised website you will understand where we have spent every spare minute these last few months. The corollary to Murphy's Law that says everything will take three times longer than the time budgeted has been fulfilled. We hope you will find that the site is not only more attractive, but is also more informative and user-friendly. Many of the items and improvements on the site are a result of your requests and suggestions, and we appreciate everyone who takes the time to write us. Please continue to write knowing that we love to hear from you and that every communication is valuable to us. We continue to be grateful for your loyalty.

Take care and keep well---

In the early 1960’s, a young doctor ventured into the Outback of Australia to open a medical clinic for the Aborigines. One of his notable discoveries was that the natives all had soft and healthy skin, whether their age was 8 or 80. There was rarely any skin related disease such as psoriasis, eczema, cancer, or acne. When asked about this, each native had the same answer: emu oil.

Since that first observation, the therapeutic claims attributed to the oil obtained from this flightless bird have been staggering. Acne, age spots, burns, fungus, keloids, pain relief, rashes, rheumatism and arthritis, stretch marks, and wrinkles are only some of the conditions successfully helped by applications of emu oil. (See link below for complete listing.)

Emu oil is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-microbial with a unique ability to easily and quickly penetrate multiple layers of skin. It’s property as a natural emollient makes it so effective in skin care. Boston University School of Medicine professor Dr. Michael Holick was able to show that emu oil could slow aging and thinning of the skin by 30%. The oil penetrated into the skin and increased the production of interdermal structures that give the skin tautness and elasticity. As skin ages, these structures break down resulting in sagging and wrinkles. Emu oil aided skin repair reducing the slackening of skin that makes wrinkles appear.

Emu oil’s mode of action is attributed to its high content of essential fatty acids (Omega 3 and Omega 6). “Essential” because the body cannot produce them and must obtain them from external sources. EFA’s are needed to maintain the integrity of the cell for without them cell walls develop leakages and cannot efficiently cleanse the blood and eliminate toxins. Emu oil is a neutral lipid (fat) with a composition very similar to skin oil, which allows it to easily penetrate through the layers of the skin. It is so effective that it is sometimes used to help transport other compounds into the deeper dermis. It will not clog pores, is hypoallergenic, and the potency of its anti-inflammatory effect in relieving muscle and joint pain is similar to ibuprofen. A 1993 Australian study to determine the anti-arthritic activity of emu oil resulted in a relief of joint and bone pain in patients within 14 days and a 100% reduction of joint swelling in 17 days. Since emu oil has no aroma and does not clog pores, it can be used by anyone at anytime.

Emu oil production is a young industry, standards are not as evolved as for other products, and picking up a nicely packaged bottle at the drugstore is no guarantee that the oil is sterilized or has not been adulterated. The quality of the oil counts. The two major factors are simply the caliber of the bird and the quality of the refining process. Australian emu oil is obtained primarily from free ranging birds and is considered by many to be the standard for quality. In America, the best way to determine whether you are obtaining a superior product is look for AEA Certified Emu Oil. In either case, find a trusted supplier.
