Is a toner really necessary? (cont) The term “toner” was initially a misnomer for this group of products (You may have noticed that the Abbey’s toners are called “tonics” because the definition for this word is “an invigorating, refreshing, or restorative agent or influence.”), but the word has become as generic as “Kleenex” for all tissues, or “Xerox” for all copy machines. So, “toner” it is. Some folks dismiss the use of toners completely saying they are of little value. We disagree. Some may be worthless of course, but the key is to choose wisely. A well-formulated toner with significant amount of active ingredients is a major player in your skin care regimen. On the practical side, a toner helps clean off all residual dirt and makeup On the active side, toners leave behind a layer of skin-renewing Additional active ingredients in a quality toner formula leave skin feeling soft and smooth, provide antioxidant protection, reduce inflammation and irritation, enhance the absorption of accompanying treatments, and lightly moisturize skin. Specialized toners aid in balancing oil production, heal and prevent blemishes, prevent razor bumps, and help even out skin tone. Good things all. Keeping skin healthy and looking young requires a multi-prong approach, and the daily use of a toner is just one of the prongs.
