What’s so Special About Vegan Kettle Soaps?

vegan kettle soap natural

If you’re tired of dry, irritated, and itchy skin, replace your regular commercial soap with handcrafted vegan kettle soaps. Kettle soaps are all-natural and provide numerous benefits beyond simply cleansing your skin.

What Are Vegan Kettle Soaps?

Many commercial soaps contain harmful chemical ingredients that irritate sensitive skin and cause dryness, redness, and persistent itching. Unlike these mass-produced soaps, kettle soaps are handmade and all-natural. They are carefully crafted to offer you rich, moisturizing soaps that nourish your skin. Kettle soaps are non-drying and long-lasting, with a creamy lather that is more soothing and luxurious than the synthetic foaming agents typically found in commercial soaps.

Kettle soaps are named for an old-fashioned process of soap-making, a traditional method in which artisans used cast-iron kettles to create each batch of soap. Today’s handmade soaps are made in larger batches, but the idea remains the same: art meets science as natural ingredients are chosen and mixed with care, and each bar of soap is cut and trimmed by hand.

Vegan kettle soaps are made with fats, oils, and other ingredients that are never derived from animals or animal by-products. Rather than using tallow or other animal fats, vegan kettle soaps contain natural and organic ingredients, such as shea butter and pure essential oils. Vegan kettle soaps are also cruelty-free and never tested on animals, making them perfect for vegans and vegetarians.

Kettle soaps are incredibly versatile. They can be used to wash your hair and body, and are even gentle enough for the sensitive skin around your face. The rich lather makes kettle soaps ideal for shaving, perfect for men and women alike. These soaps are also economical; one bar of kettle soap could replace your shampoo, shave gel, and bar soap!

Handcrafted kettle soaps may be irregular in size and shape, but they are always made with care and contain only the highest-quality components. The chemical additives and synthetic fragrances in commercial soaps can cause irritation and strip natural oils from your skin. Kettle soaps retain moisturizing glycerin and are filled with natural and organic ingredients that are gentle and hydrating.

Ingredients You’ll Find in Kettle Soaps

Kettle soaps can be formulated with endless combinations of ingredients, each one contributing its own unique gifts to your skin. Most contain all-natural, organic, and vegan ingredients, and are made with zero artificial ingredients like preservatives, parabens, lauryl sulfate, or petroleum compounds. Here are some of the most common ingredients that you’ll find in handmade kettle soaps.

  1. Natural Emollients such as shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and hemp oil keep your skin looking healthy and youthful. These are rich in fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and are readily absorbed by skin to provide hydration and leave you with soft and supple skin.
  2. Essential Oils provide a host of benefits. All contain skin repair and anti-irritant properties, as well as aiding in the control of body odor.  Along with skin-soothing properties, their aromatic characteristics range from calming and relaxing (such as lavender and patchouli) to stimulating and uplifting (such as peppermint and lemongrass).
  3. Exfoliants are used to clean and smooth your skin. Oatmeal is a gentle exfoliant, smoothing sensitive areas and relieving itchy skin. Activated charcoal deep cleanses pores and soothes a variety of skin irritants. Sea salt’s physical exfoliation deep-cleans pores and removes surface toxins, and contains skin-nourishing minerals like magnesium and zinc. Due to its lactic acid content, yogurt can also be used as a gentle exfoliant, for smooth skin on your face and body.
  4. Soothing Agents, such as aloe and honey, are gentle and non-irritating. They contain beneficial amino acids that improve appearance and provide extra moisture for dry, sensitive, or flaky skin. Aloe is also great for hair care, as it promotes a clean and healthy scalp.
  5. Milk and Goat Milk are non-vegan, but they they are less drying or irritating for people who suffer from even the most sensitive skin. Milk is an incredibly gentle ingredient with a pH level close to that of skin, while goat milk contains moisturizing triglycerides, zinc, fats, and Vitamins A and D.
